Joywork is a training process for human flourishing, for learning how to tend to and grow yourself and your community so that joy blossoms in your life.

The ideal condition for human flourishing is calm, joyful, connected co-existence. Centered calmly in ourselves and connected meaningfully with others, we can flourish and thrive. Without these conditions, and especially when fear and aggression drive our behaviors, we are merely surviving.

JoyWork is About Human Transformation Through Connection

Working online and in-person, JoyWork participants achieve transformation through brain science education and the practice and application of mindfulness, expressive arts, peace-promoting communication and honest self-inquiry. All of our practices focus on improving connectedness because we believe that most suffering comes from the crisis of disconnection in our society–disconnection from our best selves and from each other.

“Melissa saved my life… literally. I came to her at my very lowest point … she showed me a pathway back to a meaningful life … She’s absolutely one of the best people I know and I feel very fortunate to have had her in my life!”

— James, Film Producer

  • “Melissa saved my life…literally. I came to her at my very lowest point having “been hit by a speeding train” (emotionally) in multiple areas (simultaneously), landing smack dab in the middle of a full blown PTSD crisis and barely able to get out of bed each day. She was one of eight therapists that I reached out to for help at that lowest point and Melissa was the only one who was able to show me the path back into a meaningful life. It was incredibly hard work, but throughout each step she was kind, caring and skilled at a level that I (still) cannot fully fathom—working with me, believing in me (when I could not) and supporting me at every turn (yes, I took some wrong ones), continually guiding me while illuminating a path in “the darkness” for me to move forward. I will be forever be grateful to her and truly cannot ever say “thank you” enough. She’s absolutely one of the best people I know and I feel very fortunate to have her in my life!”
